POUF DADDY

Posted on 1:07 PM by feeqwfqewef
Christian Lacroix's eponymous House of fashion may no longer exist, but his signature pouf dresses will live on and on and on....His first Haute Couture collection was in 1987 where he introduced the pouf under his own name, but he had played around with the silhouette during his tenure at Jean Patou which ended dramatically when he left Patou to start his label with funding from LVMH. The House of Patou sued Lacroix for breach of contract and claimed his last collection for the House (Spring/Summer 1987) was impossible to sell (it was never produced and only the rare and original runway samples exist -- we are lucky to own eight of these one of a kind pieces -- we will post them in the near future) and Lacroix paid a 6.5 million dollar judgement to his former employers. The Christian Lacroix label was an immediate hit. In 1998, Lacroix introduced ready to wear in the form of a demi-couture Luxe label. The black textured cotton and silk strapless bustier pouf dress trimmed in white broderie anglaise lace with internal corset is from Lacroix's Luxe label and the pouf remains the seminal Lacroix silhouette. With Lacroix's fabulous House of Fashion no longer producing, the importance of this early triumphant design is only further enhanced and cause for celebration of the magical pouf!

Christian Lacroix Luxe pouf dress of black cotton and silk trimmed in white broderie anglaise lace, c. 1988. Marked size 40, modern 6 with generous bust. SOLD
